Hey everyone!
I know, I know I was out of town for a few days and I didn’t post anything. But this new blog is very fun so hope you are enjoy it!
I wanted to touch on the subject of this question:
What is your time worth?
Although this question may seem irrelevant, its impact on your life can be very profound. Now I didn’t pose this question to you so you would get philosophical. This question is meant to get a literal answer as a opposed to a figurative answer.
You might be thinking… “What the hell is this guy talking about?!”
Well I mean what is your time worth! How much would you have to be paid per hour for it to be worthwhile? 5 dollars? 10 dollars? 20 dollars? What ever the price is, you need to look at the things you do based on that answer. Now you might be wondering how you get to a solid answer. Well there is a fellow blogger who answers that question. (link at bottom of page)
Now the main purpose for finding your true hourly worth is to find out whether you should do something yourself or outsource that work to someone else. For example, lets say you need some graphics done for a billboard. Now you could go buy a graphics software application, sit down and learn how to do it, then proceed to design and create your graphic. But if looking at your hourly worth you can see that it will cost you $2000 to do it yourself, but only cost $1200 to hire someone who is much more skilled and will have it for you in 1/3 the time, you would come to the conclusion that it is not worth your time to do it yourself. So you outsource.
The only problem with this idea is that if you have no money to spend on hiring, well then you have no choice but to do it yourself. It doesn’t matter what your time is worth if you don’t have the money to pay someone else to do it!
But still there is a lesson here, you need to look at your job, your education and your free time to find out your hourly worth, excluding money. For college students and high school students, how much your time is worth is pretty irrelevant. The reason being is that you have limited time in which to actually work. So it becomes necessary to ask …
… how much time are you willing to spend working?
And well most teens and 20 some-things dont want to be working non-stop after school, only to come home and study before going to bed. This is where airbrush tattoos come in, you can make in one Saturday or Sunday what you make all week at a traditional part-time job. If you arent jumping up in down in your chair right now, then you are not a teen or a college student! The educational and social impact of having more free time during the week to study and socialize is huge.
Part of the college experience is having fun and partying! No one ever thinks that they will be stuck in their dorm room cramming for test day after day! You just don’t expect it. Now there may be some students out there that don’t have this problem, maybe they have extremely good memories or their parents keep them afloat with money so they don’t have to work their tails off just to get a decent meal every night.
